Cursillos Golden Jubilee Launched

Within the celebration of the Eucharist, presided by a fellow Cursillisa in the person of Fr. Andres Aragon, SDV., on the occasion of its 49th Anniversary and Grand Ultreya held at the Paterno’s, Roxas Ave., Davao City on September 22, 2013, Cursillos In Christianity Spiritual Director of the Archdiocese of Davao, Rev. Fr. Jemasol “Jojo” Ortiz launched the yearlong Golden Jubilee celebration of the Cursillos as he read Circular Letter No. 25, Series of 2013 issued by His Grace Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D., Archbishop of Davao addressed to Parish Priests and ACLAIM.
In the said Circular, the Archbishop recognizes the contribution of the Cursillos in the life and mission of the whole Church, as well as in the Local Church, in intensifying the living out of the Gospel since 1964. Hence, he said: “As we thank God for the presence of these active lay faithful… I encourage all of you to extend to them the support of your prayers – that together, we may radiate the light of faith, hope and joy in the Church and bring inspiration to all Christians”.

Thus, after the day’s event, Fr. Ortiz converge the members of the out-going Secretariat as well as the nominees for the incoming secretariat to an initial meeting to create the necessary committees that will work on plans for the jubilee celebration to culminate in September next year. It will be a two-day affair and cursillistas from other arch/dioceses will be invited to grace the occasion.
The Movement is also launching a contest to gather oldest mementos like “Guide” book, Souvenir Program, T-Shirt, Pictures, etc., to be part of the exhibit that will be mounted for the purpose.
Let us pray that this yearlong Golden Jubilee Celebration may bridge the past as we look forward to continuing the Movement’s call to evangelization inspired by the fruits of the Year of Faith employing modern means and techniques that may be of help to lead people to an intimate encounter with Christ.
