Badge of Dishonor

At the rate our politicians are getting publicly clobbered lately, we now don’t see them too often in the public view. Suddenly, they are all smeared. And they appear sparse nowadays. Most of today’s publicly known leaders are now insulted, attacked and demonized. The usual media savvy officials are now ducking and lying low, below the radar or tv screen, It seems like being a senator or a congressman is now a badge of dishonor. What a tragedy!.
RIGHTEOUS? – Suddenly, new faces started to dominate the news media. Our middle class including the so-called well-heeled Pinoys, are surfacing. They are all becoming today more vocal and even critical of the status quo or the present state of affairs. They now dominate today’s protest actions as they vent their angst and ire at what is wrong in our country today. All at the expense of our politicians.
NETIZENS – The so-called social media’s “netizens” also appear to claim new found powers. Overnight, everyone is a self-proclaimed “ journalist” writing and posting their blogs freely. They seem to dominate now the scene with self proclaimed righteousness freely. They seem to dominate now the scene with self proclaimed righteousness and indignation.
THE POOR- where is the poor and lowly “ masa” in all this? Are those new angry voices and so-called new faces who raise voices on political issues and seeking reforms truly doing this “ por la patria” or for the vast majority who are poor?
POPE FRANCIS’CUE – I think we have to take cue, in all this, from POPOE FRANCIS no less who has endare3d himself even to non-catholics for his simple and down-to-earth ways. The Jesuit in him and his total focus for the poor and the lowly conserve as the northern star to keep us all in the right direction. He is the foremost proponent of doing things all for the deliverance of the poor. If we heed him, we can never go wrong in what we all do.
