Perfect Charity

Vocation Month opens with the Eucharist presided by Most Rev. Romulo G. Valles, D.D., Archbishop of Davao at San Pedro Cathedral, September 2, 2013 at 5:30 P.M. Various Congregations conduct school visits, search-ins and discernment sessions. It is the right of religious groups to publicize themselves and seek for candidates (Perfectae Caritatis 2).

While the Archdiocese of Davao enjoys an increase in number of candidates for priesthood this year both in college and major seminaries, we must all work and not only pray for vocation to religious life. Yes, parents should nurture and protect vocation to religious life by educating their children in Christian virtues.

With the pastoral demand around us, the 90 diocesan clergy of Davao, 70 religious congregations comprising of religious institutes, missionary societies and public associations of the faithful cannot still cope up with the spiritual hunger of the growing number of our faithful.

Few are called to remain in single blessedness while many are called to holiness by living their matrimonial vows faithfully.

The pursuit for perfect charity is taught and lived by the Divine Master Himself. This lifestyle is commonly understood to be achieved through the discipline of chastity, poverty and obedience.
Yet no one is exempt from living in perfect charity.
