Bombings, A Political Statement?

This topic is meant to provoke healthy speculations. Which is a mental exercise in truth-seeking. We are therefore requested not to jump into conclusions without actual knowledge of the truth supported by cold evidence.

Our main purpose is to speculate on the bombings as political statement. A political statement is a public manifestation of an opinion on matters of political nature.  The question we ask is, is there such a thing as using a bomb for political reason? If the answer is Yes, why should a violent instrument be used? One reason is, bombing as instrument will definitely get more attention than a harmless one.

The next question is, what  political group would use a harmful means to call attention? It can be a group who would not mind killing innocent people as long as  they achieve their purpose.

Continuing our speculation, what could  be the political reason of such a group? One news item that invites deeper speculation is a report on the car bomb used in Cotabato. Car bombs, the report said, are prepared by experts in a very meticulous  way using ammonium nitrate and other chemicals, and are meant to kill many persons. They have never been used here  before.

With this info, if it is reliable, we are led to speculate on the possibility of foreigners being involved both in the manufacture of the bomb and in the planning of the political statement. Is it possible that a foreign group could covertly be conniving with local people who may be anti or pro government?

Suppose the bombing is really a political statement, what local political issue was it meant for, and why? What political íssue is likely to attract foreign support and participation? Since there are several burning issues, regional and national, which of these was behind the bombings?

There are no answers. The speculation continues.
