The music played for Padre Pio
Six pianists played for a night of music and praise.
This was the first-ever six-piano concert dubbed as Una Serenata Per San Padre Pio, a benefit concert for the construction of the Padre Pio Chapel in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.
The concert, staged at the Marco Polo Hotel, Davao, July 21 was the first time that six Davaoeño pianists reunite for a benefit concert namely: Michael Richard Lopez, Viviana Fe Quijano, Reynaldo Canda, Sylvia Panganiban, Gregorio Canceran and Stelamarie Ticong.
The six artists studied at the University of the Immaculate Conception School of Music and they are now based in different countries.
“We are ecstatic about the response we have received to our Padre Pio Chapel building and the tremendous support for our artists and the concert tonight,” said Edgar Canda of the Padre Pio Prayer Group.
“St. Pio is well known for his love to God, to the Church and healing and prayer life. I exhort everyone to help build a house of God consecrated to Saint Pio of Pietrelicina as your outward expression of your great love to the saint,” said Ramon Rodriguez of the Philippine Centre for St. Pio of Pietrelcina, Inc.
The chapel in honor of the saint had its groundbreaking ceremony, July 22 and was attended by Padre Pio devotees and followers.
