Sta. Ana Parish Shrine Celebrates its 64th Parochial Fiesta

“Sta. Ana: Modelo sa Kristohanong Banay: Pagtoo, Magmalamboon” is this year’s theme for the 64th Parochial Fiesta of the Sta. Ana Parish Shrine on July 26, 2013. July 24, 2013 is also the 14th anniversary of the Dedication of Sta. Ana as a shrine by then Archbishop Fernando Capalla in 1999. It was designated as a shrine not because of its beauty or size rather as a church visited by the faithful as pilgrims for special devotion.

The parish of Sta. Ana Church was separated from San Pedrp Parish and canonically erected on the same day in July 26, 1949, which is also the feast day of their patron saint. Due to the increasing population, the need to have another parish was the reason for its creation.

In August 1948, the Foreign Missions Society of Quebec in the Philippines acquired a property where the following are standing – San Pedro Hospital, San Pedro College, PME Regional House, Holy Cross of Davao College, CYO Gym and the Sta. Ana Parish Church.

The parish was served by the PME Fathers but in 1995 was turned over to the Archdiocese with Msgr. Leonardo Vicente, DD as its first Filipino Parish Priest. Msgr. Martiniano Gorgonio, PC is its current Parish Priest with Fr. Sixto Vistal, DCD as the Parochial Vicar.
