Seminarians told: Live the Faith, Share the Faith
In this year of faith, seminarians are told to live the faith and share it.
This is according to Bishop of Kidapawan Romulo T. De la Cruz who officiated the Holy Spirit Mass to begin the school year of St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary.
“It is not easy but it is a command. Our obligation,” Bishop Dela Cruz addressed the seminarians, adding the command is also intended for all priests, religious and the laity being baptized Catholics.
Bp. De la Cruz said seminarians have a lot of journey ahead of them in their seminary and academic formation that’s why they need to ask the help of the Holy Spirit.
He said seminarians should always remind themselves of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord as they journey in their formation.
The bishop also said the Holy Spirit must be recognized by having Himself a place in the lives of the seminarians, being future priests, adding that only few are asking the Holy Spirit who is the one working in the Church and the Holy Spirit Mass is a reminder for them.
Bishop De la Cruz said everyone—priests, religious, seminarians, married should strive hard to have the Holy Spirit in their lives and not just on the day of their baptism.
“Ayaw mo patintal sa mga buhat nga dili maayo, dili angayan sa ato seminarians,” the bishop ended.
Meanwhile, the St. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary (REMASE) in Catalunan Grande also have the renewal of oath of fidelity of the faculty members and they also welcomed their new professor and assistant procurator, Fr. William Cajes from the Archdiocese of Davao.
The Rector, Msgr. Abel Apigo takes pride in the presence of the mass presider, Bp. De la Cruz, an alumnus of REMASE as he also cited that this year is a special year for them since the seminary will be having the year-long celebration of the golden anniversary since its establishment by the PME Fathers.
Msgr. Apigo said there are 118 seminarians studying in REMASE with 110 resident seminarians while the rest are from the religious congregations. (@dcherald)
