Young Catholic duo inspires youngsters
This duo has made songs about worship more at home to young people.
The duo called ‘Where’s the Sheep?’ has recently performed for a one-night concert dubbed as Herald of God’s Love organized by the Filipino Chinese Catholic Youth last May 25 at Stella Maris Academy.
Composed of Hero Mauricio, 22, in guitar and Michael Shimamoto, 22, in vocals and guitar, the group shared their music to the young people and some elders during their concert.
Performing their covers and own compositions, the group inspired young people to listen to musical genre that wants to make Jesus known and in to the young people who mostly prefer pop songs and other genre.
During their interview with DCHerald right after the concert, Shimamoto said he and Mauricio, who are childhood friends tried other genre but they still prefer gospel and worship being raised in devout Catholic families.
Shimamoto also said they want other young people to continue doing music especially those in their parishes and faith communities as he hopes there will also be more young groups like them who will make it in the mainstream music industry.
“I have never heard about the group but right after I saw them perform, I became a fan. I also watch their videos in Youtube and I learned that they are already popular in the social media,” said one member of the audience.
Shimamoto also told young people to be responsible in their use of the social media saying, “Everything you post on FB should bear the consciousness that Christ is in you.”
The group also hopes to be back in Davao City for the second time to perform again. And they thanked the people of Davao especially the young people for being so kind and generous to them.
