Viva Saints Peter and Paul!
This coming Saturday, June 29, the whole Church offers prayers on the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul. As “Prince of the Apostles” and “Apostle of the Gentiles” respectively, they are the principal patrons of Rome.
While St. Peter is known to be the patron of those in the fishing industry, St. Paul is considered as the patron of the lay apostolate.
Next Sunday, June 30, we celebrate St. Peter the Apostle Sunday. A special collection in all Masses is intended “for the formation, training and support for seminaries, clergy and religious all over the world.”
The Archdiocese of Davao is blessed to have San Pedro Cathedral on its 165th Fiesta celebration being the suffragan of the whole DaDiTaMa region. We are also blessed with San Pablo Parish which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year as one of the parishes in the Archdiocese where Social Communications Apostolate office is located.
As members of this local church of Davao – priests, religious and lay – we owe to these two great saints the inspiration and strength to continue deepen, live and share the faith.
