Sto. Niño Parish of Kaputian celebrates annual youth festival
Around two-hundred sixty and four young people joined the Annual Youth Festival of Sto. Nino Parish of Kaputian held last May 16-19 2013 at the parish ground itself. With the theme: GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS, the four-day fun-filled activity was colored with different friendly competitions, such as basketball and volleyball games, choir choral contest, neo-ethnic dance contest, logo making contest, amazing race, and parlor games, wherein the young people showcased their different talents and skills and expressed their imaginative creativity and initiative!
Not only was it a time for fun, it was also a venue for new learning and faith-deepening experience as the young people actively listened to the inputs given by the different speakers, wherein topics such as Faith, The Mass Media and Our Generation, and The Creed were discussed. The young people’s encounter with God was made more vivid in their experience of the Lectio Divina.
According to the parish priest, Fr. Rico Enriquez, he was so elated seeing the young people so energetic and alive, filled with high hopes and aspirations in life as expressed in their untiring cooperation and lively participation in every activity conducted by the organizer of the said festival.
“Sometimes we fail to recognize and appreciate the effort of the young people because we just take them for granted. Most often we just see and magnify their mistakes as if they can do nothing of any worth. But with the successful youth fest that we just had, I am convinced that the overflowing energy of the youth can be channeled into something worthwhile and meaningful,” said Fr. Rico. He also said that he is really thankful to the organizers, and to all those who participated, and he wanted to extend to them his warmest congratulations for a job well-done!
Preparation for the next year’s Youth Festival started as soon as they’ve decided to hold it at Talicud, IGACOS.
To all the young people out there, keep the faith!
