Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish Youth takes off
The four- year old Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish- Youth Apostolate conducted its first ever youth encounter/gathering last May 18, 2013 at the parish’s social hall located at Indangan, Davao City. Headed by Rev. Fr. Elneri Meñez the parish priest together with the OLMMP youth core group were able to gather 110 participants coming from the various GKK’s under the parish. The participants reflected on the theme: “Nagkahiusang Kabatan-onan alang sa kalambuan sa Kristohanong Simbahan”, the encounter started though the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided over by their parish priest. In his sermon Fr. Meñez said that “We can only be young once” and encouraged the attendees to keep the fire burning in their hearts and live their lives to the fullest through serving God and the Church.
On the other hand, speaker Jecy Opada a volunteer of Davao Archdiocesan Youth Coordinating Apostolate (DAYCA) discussed during the morning session the importance and the role of a “team” and “teamwork” in achieving unity among the diverse young people of the said parish and conducted a team building activity wherein the participants actively participated. Also, in the afternoon session the speaker deepened the discussion and understanding of the young people by giving the 2nd topic “Youth Ministers Live the faith” and “Chosen by Christ”.
The gathering culminated through “PSB night” or Pangulo sa Batan-on night, wherein the leaders and members showcased their talents, fostered friendship and thanksgiving after a long yet fruitful day of their activity.
