Father’s Day
A couple badly treated their 70-year old father who was half blind, partly deaf and had Parkinson’s. The old man made a mess of the house because of his defects. He was shouted at and not given enough food, medicine and hygiene, like washing. One day, the couple saw their 8 year old son making a very rough, dirty wooden box. They asked what it is. The boy said,” This is your food box so when you grow old like Lolo, I won’t worry about lost and broken spoon, plates, cups, when you eat”.
Father’s Day is special. Papa worked hard so we can have a house, food, and clothing and so we can go to school. He missed important activities in our lives; our first communion, confirmation, P.T.A. meetings, school games, programs, graduations but he worried whenever we got sick. We are what we are today because of his sacrifices. If you put him in a home for the aged or send him to the province to live with his other old relatives, he will not resist. Only when he is dead will you regret for not doing what you should have done for him but did not. Mahigugmaon ug mapasayloon, imo pang samaran, napukan pa sa yuta, imo pang lud-an. Unsa ba ang kalag mo ? Wala ka bay kamatayon?
Today hug him and say “Papa Mahal Kita”.
