UM’s eight programs granted Level III accreditation
DAVAO CITY – May 15, 2013 – Eight programs in the University of Mindanao namely BS in Architecture, BS in Accountancy, BS in Mechanical Engineering, BS in Criminology, BS in Computer Science, BS in Information Technology, Master of Arts in Education and Master in Business Administration were granted Level III Accreditation by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities – Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA). The eight programs of UM are the first to receive Level III accreditation in Region XI by PACUCOA.
According to Gloria E. Detoya, CPA, UM’s Quality Management Representative and EVP for Operations, “the accreditation efforts of the University is for the good of the students and all its stakeholders. It is our way of voluntarily submitting UM for evaluation by an outside accrediting body like PACUCOA. This will guarantee UMians that their Alma Mater has resources, mechanisms and standards beyond the minimum requirements set by CHED.”
Accreditation is a process in which an institution assesses its educational activities and asks for evaluation to know if the objectives and goals are met.
For years, the University of Mindanao is consistently awarded as one of the Top 5 schools with the highest number of accredited programs in country by PACUCOA.
