Congratulations Bishop-Elect Ronald Lunas

Bishop Bong Lunas portraitThe bishop-elect is the parish priest of St. Joseph the Worker parish in Sta. Cruz. He divides his time working in the parish, teaching at the REMASE (Regional Major Seminary) and performing the task as the Episcopal Vicar for the Clergy. He is a very prayerful priest and loves spending most of his time in the GKKs. He is a favorite speaker of different occasions in the neighboring dioceses, also a favorite presider of Sunday masses via ABS-CBN Davao. His radio program with the GOLD FM and DXGN Spirit FM draws a lot of regular listeners on Saturday early morning programs.

On Nov. 26, few days after he was announced as the 5th bishop of Pagadian, he celebrated his 52nd birthday. When asked about his feelings, he said he was very thankful for the trust he received from the Holy Father. Adding that he only dreamed to become a priest and he could not ask for more. God has blessed him with 26 years of loyal priesthood.

His episcopal ordination is the first to occur in the history of the diocese. He chose February 11, the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes as his date of ordination. This is also the date of the installation of Most Rev. Guillermo D. Afable D.D. in the Diocese of Digos on Feb 11, 2003. Bishop Afable is the Main Consecrator of Fr. Ronald Lunas. It is also interesting to note that Fr. Lunas was announced a bishop during the birthday of the late Msgr. Camina, the first bishop of the diocese who ordained Fr. Lunas.

As the Diocese of Digos ordains and sends forth a new Bishop to the Diocese of Pagadian, the faithful are happy to celebrate a new leader to shepherd the flock. To Bishop Bong, our endless gratitude for the good 26 years in the diocese. We will continue praying for you and Congratulations on your new task as Pagadian’s bishop.

EMMANUEL! God is with you all the time.
