Fil-Mission Sunday
In 1965, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) established the Mission Society of the Philippines (MSP) in gratitude to GOD for the gift of faith we, Filipinos, received from the early Catholic foreign missionaries. Eighty one (81) MSP priests are now present in fourteen (14) countries, particularly in Asia, Oceania, Europe and the Americas.
Every last Sunday of July was set as Fil-Mission Sunday to support MSP’s mission to evangelize non-Christian believers, to give evangelical service to young churches until they attain ecclesial maturity, and to help renew churches unable to catechize their own people until they achieve ministerial self-reliance.
Trustful of GOD through faith in the generosity of the Filipino laity, MSP will continue to recruit, train, send, and support Filipino missionaries to the world. By one’s gift, everyone becomes a partner in this mission.
The Catholic lay may now, through MSP, share in “the joyful missionary spirit flowing from a deep union with Christ through Mary, and in the power of the Holy Spirit, willing to spend and be spent in sharing God’s gospel to all.”
